FAQ

Q: Where and when do I learn this command?

A: There are quite some players who have useful information in their refer.

  • refer dantheman - covert commands
  • refer arthemis - fences
  • refer wobble - lightlevels for imbue/impress/imprinted
  • refer scouter - rods and which rituals they are used for
  • refer cinnamon - guild levels and titles
  • refer paff - amulet levels, enchantment and deluding

And lots of commands are listed here and in the links section.
You can learn commands from players or certain teaching NPCs. Some commands will come with certain items (like mend, it will enter your mind as soon you hold a needle. But you need the skill cr.ma.ne to mend items. Yes, get used to the abbreviations, everyone uses them).
To learn from players teach me command from player. Some NPCs want to be asked niceley (say please teach me).

Q: How does this work?

A: A vast amount of rooms with a special function have help here. Every command has a help xxxxx function and if you struggle with the syntax, syntax xxxx is your friend.
So, before you ask the talker, try those things and try to find out for yourself. It's far more fun for you and for your fellow players, isn't it?

Q: How do I join a guild

A: Find the desired guild on a map of your choice, study the map of the building and find the place where the recruiter, religious instructor, or other NPC is. help here is a good way to find out because it will tell you how to join.
In case of Assassins it is a bit different, because finding and joining them is the first test you have to pass on your way becoming a famous and feared member. So a question on the newbiechannel or talker is pointless.

Q: How do I advance?

In most cases the place where you have joined is the place where you can get rid of your precious XP and money. info, cost primaries, cost skill.subskill will show you the amount of xp you need.

Q: How do I learn from fellow players?

A: It's pretty simple as most players/teachers have autoteach on. This means self service: teach me xx levels of skill.sub.subsub from player or if you want to get rid of all your xp at once teach me max levels of .....
You need to be of course in the same room as the teacher and the teacher must be active enough, means not longer idle as 5 minutes.

Q: HELP! I died! What now?

A: Remain calm, type in who pishe and ask a member nicely to help you.
If no pishite is online or all of them are idle (happens sometimes) type who gufnork. Gurfnork priests can raise the dead but not ressurect you. The difference is: ressurect will bring all your stats and health up too.

Q: But I'm dead! Look there, my corpse! Everyone can take my stuff!

A: Again remain calm. No one can take your stuff unless you are a playerkiller or your corpse decays and this will take some time.

Q: Playerkillers? Maniacs who run around and kill me?

A: No, not if you are a playerkiller too. And they are not maniacs, well, at least most of them.

Q: Help! I died somewhere, I don't know where I am and how to get back to any place of civilisation

A: Pishites and some other priests I think can find/locate corpses. If you have died in a relly far off and/or dangerous place, like the hub or fell of a cliff or drowned in the ocean, it is propably time to call the RRU.
Witches can fly to you (not to the bottom of the ocean) and get your stuff so you can float ghostly to a place which is easier to reach for a priest.

Q: What is the RRU?

The Resurrection and Recovery Unit is an organization aimed to provide help for those in need of assistance in death-induced situations. refer rru or who rru will give you an overview of online members.

Q: Back to playerkillers. What is that?

A: Playerkilling gives a whole new aspect to the game. More fun but more dangerous. Playerkillers can interact in much more ways. Killing, looting, stealing.
Assassins are forced to become playerkillers if they want to advance beyond certain levels at their guild, so are members of the Last Order. For more information read the Assassins, Thieves and Wizard sites in the links section.

Q: Where do I get/find item/shop/NPC?

A: Try the different databases mentioned in the links section. Study the maps and explore the cities and terrains. It's more fun as asking on the talker and getting instructions for everything.

A: Psst, how do I solve this quest?

Not telling, that's what questing is about. Propably you'll find quest solutions somewhere in the interwebs, but be aware, there is at least one site with joke quests which are pointless or in the worst case, end with your death.

Q: And solutions for achievements?

A: Pointless, all achievements and what you must do for them are on the dicworld site. You must be logged in to see them.

Q: I'm a mage/witch, can I use faith? I'm a thief/warrior/priest/assassin, can I use magic and faith?

A: The answer to the first question is easy: no. Wizards and witches simply know that Gods are there, so why bother with them.
For everyone else, yes you can. You can achieve most things with magic and faith. Both ways have up and downsides. With magic you need components and scrolls. For faith you need rods or canes and you have to deal with alignment. Scrolls are very easy to get, components too, rods are more expensive because they are hard to make.
It's up to you if and which way you go, or even both.

Q: What are thaums and are they dangerous?

A: Thaums are generated by using magic. Wizards and Witches can see if there are high levels of background magic in the room description.
Usualle there is no danger involved until certain levels are reached.

  • &nbps;750 thaums - Red warning messages
  • 1000 thaums - Red sparks in the room description and HP damage at casting
  • 1500 thaums - Limbs will go missing
  • 2000 thaums - Missing head, loss of a life
