Pumpkin Town So you reached Pumpkin Town. What now? If you already have played a character you'll already know most, all or more as I know. If you know more contact me via tell or mudmail so I can improve this guide. All others: please go on. Read the room descriptions. It gives you a sight of what items are in the room and how it looks like. In certain rooms hints for hidden exits can be found. Right now you have your first choice to make. Walk through the exit or climb the window. If you chose the window the introduction will be skipped. As one of the first things I suggest the following commands: This gives you a nifty map on top of your screen and shows you the exits and if somone is in the rooms nearby.
Some players prefer the map on the bottom of the room description. Escpecially players with limited vision who play with a screen reader, prefer a written version. 'Why should I bother with boring Pumpkin Town? Take me straight to the action!', you might ask. The answer is simple: Because you won't be able to kill anything, not even rats or cockroaches. You will know nothing and you'll be forced to ask questions on the newbiechannel which are answered here (even the most patient newbiehelper gets bored when they get asked the same questions over and over again). You'll get some basic skills in the most used skill trees for free. Once you are inside they will cost. Either XP (if you learn from a player) or money and XP (if you advance in your guild). So let's have a look at the map. Many fluffs to Kefka who allowed me to use his maps.
Places of Interest
On most places NPCs (None player characters) can be found who'll tell you about different aspects of the game like moving, soul commands, light sources, postal system, and so on. Take the few minutes to listen to them, it'll make your life much easier. The most important parts are the guilds sector and the combat pumpkin. As a hint go to the thieves first and Shifty Marlow will tell you to go and shoplift something from the store. Steal a weapon which you can use on the Warrior (Spear, Jagged Bone Sword or mace, whichever is the least expensive), train at the combat sector, use it on Headcrusher and give it back to Shifty Marlow afterwards. So you avoid buying the same item twice. The cheapest item because you won't get it back from Shifty Marlow. As the disc is very combat orientated the combat pumpkin is a place you should visit very often. Smashing a pumpkin doesn't sound very intersting? I promise you the pumpkin will hurt you, it's a vicious killer pumpkin. As mentioned above you have to steal one weapon, the others you have to buy. On the basement you'll find the general store which has used weapons in stock and on the first floor are weapons and armour. You have to attack the pumpkin several times with different weapons to train your skills. Yellow messages will pop up and inform you when your skill increases. Don't forget to attack the pumpkin unarmed so you learn about this part of combat. To learn blocking you need a shield and parrying is learned with almost all types of weapons.
